Natural colors have a long, safe history of use in the food industry and their popularity has increased as a result of emerging science on the health benefits of the pigment compounds. The L*A*B chart below shows (in two dimensions) some of the natural colors as they appear. Other colorants not shown include carmine, which has a wide range of shades from orange to purplish, turmeric, which tends towards the yellow end and beta carotene, which has an orange shade.

As a result of a partnership agreement with Overseal (www.overseal.com), RFI offers a complete line of natural colors in liquid and powder form. Products are all GRAS and non-allergenic and several color strengths, excipients and shades are available. Standard blends are available as are custom formulations.
